Day 01: Dublin - Drogheda

Early morning arrival in Dublin. Morning half day Dublin city tour to include St.Patrick’s Cathedral as well as Trinity College & The Book of Kells. Then we travel to Drogheda where the national Shrine of Saint Oliver Plunkett is located. Visit Old Mellifont Abbey, the first Cistercian monastery in Ireland. This monastery was established by St. Malachy of Armagh in 1142. The abbey is in Tullyallen, just outside Drogheda. Rest of the day free. Dinner and overnight in Drogheda.

Day 02: Drogheda – Clonmacnoise – Knock - Galway

Morning Mass in St Peters, Drogheda where the decapitated head of St Oliver Plunnket is housed in a specially made shrine for veneration and public display. After Mass we depart for Clonmacnoise, the early Christian site founded by St. Ciarán in the mid-6th century. This site is on the eastern banks of the river Shannon. Then on to Knock for the Stations of the Cross. Knock is Ireland’s National Marian Shrine. Our Lady, St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist appeared at the south gable end of the parish Church on the 21st of August 1879. Dinner and overnight in Galway

Day 03: Galway – Cliffs of Moher – Killarney

After breakfast we visit Galway Cathedral for Mass. This Cathedral was dedicated on15 August 1965, and as such is the youngest of Europe's great stone cathedrals. It is dedicated to Our Lady Assumed into Heaven and Saint Nicholas. Then next stop enroute is the Cliffs of Moher one of Ireland's top visitor attractions and designated UNESCO Geo Park. We travel via the old world village of Adare to Killarney. Dinner and overnight in Killarney.

Day 04: Killarney – Innisfallen Island – Ring of Kerry - Killarney

Departing from our hotel, we take a boat trip to Innisfallen Island. This is an island on Killarney’s Lower Lake, also known as Lough Leane. This is one of the most impressive ruins in the National Park, dating from very early Christian times. The monastery was founded by St. Finian and was occupied for over 850 years. According to tradition, Brian Boru, one of the most powerful High Kings of Ireland, was educated there. While there the monks wrote the Annals of Innisfallen which gives an account of the early history of Ireland. After the visit to Innisfallen, we take what must surely be regarded as one of Ireland’s most beautiful drives, the Ring of Kerry. Time to go to one of any number of shows in the town. Dinner and overnight in Killarney.

Day 05: Killarney – Gougane Barra – Blarney – Cork

Morning Mass at the Franciscan Friary Killarney and there after we drive to Gougane Barra to visit the 6th Century lake island monastery founded by St Finbarr. We continue to Blarney where one can kiss the famous Blarney stone. There will be time for shopping in the Blarney Woollen Mills. In the afternoon we visit the Cobh emigration heritage centre. Dinner and overnight in Cork.

Day 06: Waterford – Rock of Cashel – Holycross Abbey - Dublin

Departing from our hotel we drive to the Rock of Cashel. Then on to Holycross Abbey,which is just a short drive away. This ancient Cistercian monastery was founded by King Donal O’Brien of Munster about 1182. The first monks here came from Monasteranenagh in County Limerick. Prior to being a Cistercian monastery it was a Benedictine monastery, established about 1168. This monastery in Limerick had been founded by the monks from Mellifont. Then onto Dublin for Dinner and overnight.

Day 07 Dublin – U.S.

Morning transfer to Dublin Airport for the return flight to home.
